Information about Free Rangers Forest School Holiday Club and Over Night Camp

Forest School Holiday Club (5 - 10yrs)

If your child is aged between 5-10 years, has a keen sense of adventure, loves the outdoors and relishes the opportunity to learn new skills then come and be a Forest School Free Ranger for a day during school holidays.

Our Forest School holiday clubs are run by Ed (aka Red Fox) either on site at Free Rangers Nursery. Please see the below for details on which course is running on which days. Our Forest School clubs can be very popular so please book early to avoid disappointment.

Our club typically finds your children experiencing a variety of tools such as supervised knife and axe use, den/shelter building, learning about building and lighting fires safely with fire steels, clay play, problem-solving, cooking a delicious lunch, surveying and exploring the brook or pond, or playing a multitude of forest school games. We look to challenge your child on these days, to have a try and learn something new, or to reinforce any knowledge and skills they bring with them, establishing a healthy and positive connection with the outdoors. We guarantee they'll come home smoky, muddy, healthy and full of adventure!

Sessions run from 9am till 4pm. We do try to leave as close to drop-off as possible to maximise our time outdoors. The cost is £30 for our Holiday Club. We also offer a £5 discount off the original price for any extra days booked and these prices are inclusive of lunch (see below).

Holiday CLub FAQs

  • Can I pay by Childcare Voucher? Yes! If you are still collecting childcare vouchers, you can select the option to pay by childcare voucher and use the promo code CHILDCARE at the checkout screen. You will then have 24hrs to transfer the amount to our account.

  • Do you offer refunds? In most circumstances we can offer a refund. The refund will be minus any booking fees. If you are trying to cancel less than two days prior to your booking the refund cannot be issued.

  • Do you provide waterproofs? We do have some waterproofs and wellies available but we strongly advise that you bring your own, as per the Kit List so your child is as comfortable as possible.

  • My child has a Nut allergy. Can they attend? We are a nut-free nursery, and ask that snacks bought to the clubs are completely nut free. All foods we supply are checked for nuts and nut processing but we cannot guarantee 100% your child won’t come into contact with them but we strive to do our utmost to ensure this doesn’t happen.

  • My child has extra needs. Can they attend? We don’t like turning away any child, so feel free to contact us to discuss your needs.

  • What kind of activities do you offer? Your child will be spolit for choice! We plan different activites for your child so they are choosing something they are interested in. We are also pro-risk at the club. Your children will use sharp tools, experience fire lighting and get muddy!

  • Can parents come and play as well? Of course! Parents are welcome!

*new* Survival of the Nurtured Overnight Camp (10 - 15 years)

Friday 1st November - Saturday 2nd November 2019

Survival of the Nurtured and Free Rangers are collaborating to host an incredible, overnight, wellbeing camp focussing on harnessing the power of outdoor shared experiences to nurture every child’s unique character. This two day overnight camp aims to combine the inherent value of discovery and play in nature with a psychological resilience programme designed to boost confidence, improve emotional wellbeing and a strong sense of self.

In a busy world we want to give children the space and time through outdoor play, creativity and spontaneity to be exactly who they are. The camp will all take place within a supportive and nurturing environment.

The Camp will take place from the 1st November to the 2nd November and will cost £100 for the weekend.
