As December arrived in the Burrow so did lots of magic and sparkles, this was a great opportunity to get the children’s imaginations working in the Burrow! I don’t know if you’ve heard about ‘elf on the shelf’, he’s a very special elf that has been sent from Father Christmas to watch over the children. He then reports back to Father Christmas to tell him if the Burrow children have continued to be kind and friendly over the time he’s been with us. This spurred on my thought about imaginations and what a great way to start thinking about how magical Christmas can be.
After we had our snack and FS rules the adults started to notice fairies flying around really quickly in the paddock. We quickly told the Burrow children what we had seen and how we can go and find them. Once the children found out they seemed super excited to start their adventure and see what we could find!
We left the tree house and noticed a fairy tree with a very special treat on there for the Burrow children… this was special wool that we could make into a bracelet. How lovely and kind it was for the fairies to leave this with us, the children couldn’t believe the magic. We started to put our bracelets and together we started to notice the fairies again; surprisingly the children started joining in. Pointing in all directions to where they saw them, the imagination was flowing and the children really got into the activity.
Walking through the paddock we kept noticing more and more fairies until we came across a kitchen that has been left in the paddock. Immediately the children made this the fairies kitchen and started to explore what was there.
Over the week the children’s imagination grew and grew, really showing us how far you can push their thought process. When the children left to go home they kept showing their new bracelets to their parent/carer with so much pride! Next week we will be exploring the fairies again but spending our time in the magical kitchen, I can’t wait to see their imaginations flowing again!
