SPLISH SPLASH SPLOSH

August 27, 2015 Tiffany Whittaker

It rained and rained and rained some more.

What a better way to start the week, than to get the waterproofs and wellies on and go on a search for the biggest muddiest puddles on site, and of course after themajor pour down on the weekend this is exactly what we found. Gigantic muddy puddles.

Coming into work on a Monday morning welcomed by rain, rain and more rain felt a little bit yucky after an extremely soggy weekend, but watching the enjoyment in the children’s faces as they jumped through the puddles in the car park on their way into the burrow I thought what better way to embrace the rain than to go in it and get as soggy and as muddy as we possibly can, and of course the children enjoyed this very much.

We dressed the children in their waterproofs, coats and wellies and set out on Forest School, our hoods were up and we were ready to go, we headed up to the cabin for a quick dry snack stop, we ate up all of our fruit, drunk our milk and on the count 1, 2, 3 we ran to find the muddy puddles. The puddles on site were more of a muddy splodge which we could jump and slide around in, and get lovely and mucky, so after we all had a nice big splodge we set off around the farm to find the kind of puddles we could jump into make a big splash (who knew there were so many types of puddles, which of course the children like to inform me of) and wow did we find a big puddle, all of the children ran straight in jumping and splashing, laughing and smiling, and filling their wellies at the same time, we plashed and slashed until we could splash no more. It was time to head back to the burrow, dry off and get ready for a nice warm lunch (which was much needed after a super splashy morning). Even the wellies were full of puddle………. it was time to hang the wellies to dry and send the waterproofs for a spin in the machine, until next time.

Thank you rain it’s been a lovely week please come again soon.
