Recently we’ve had some new farm friends join us at Free Rangers. They are noisy, they are big and sometimes they even manage to escape their house! Can you guess what they are?
Geese! Our lovely new girls are called Samantha and Delilah. We have been lucky enough to visit them on a daily basis, monitoring their growth, discussing the noises they make and watching what and how they eat and drink.
Today we ventured out again to go and say hello and whilst we were with them, we heard a very familiar noise. The noise of a tractor!
We walked through the farm, spotting staff cars, blackberries, the wild flowers that manage to grow between the brambles and also looking for any horses along the way. We reached the field where we saw a big red tractor! And for us Burrowers there’s nothing better than sitting in the field and watching, so we perched at the edge of the field and watched the tractor carry out its work. The farmer even came down to us to give us a wave. Increasing our knowledge and understanding of the world is very powerful, not only does it help us to link and build ideas, it helps us to be thankful to all people for all the jobs they do around us. Appreciating our fellow people helps to build communities and empathy between people. Next time you’re out and about, chat with your child about the people you see and the roles they play to help us all out. It is lovely to hear a child’s thoughts on all of this.
