The Hives been open a year!

May 2, 2017 Jade Edgell

We’ve been open a year, a whole year! As many of you know a year ago we opened the doors to the Nest and Warren, in the new building with an amazing outdoor space, and separate sleep room, this was when we became known as the Baby Unit.

Not long after this we noticed that the children we interested in playing in both rooms so we began to merge together as one.

We had a competition where you could pick a name of what you would like the Baby Unit to be called, and most of you chose the Hive! Which suits us very well as we’re all very busy bees!

So we’re now known as the Hive, and in the Hive team we have Madi (Room Leader), Jade, Lauren, Sophie, Chloe and Tammy.

Over the past year we’ve seen many children grow into the cheeky toddlers they are today and make their next steps as they enter the Burrow or even now the Den. We’re very lucky to be able to get the chance to see all of the Burrower’s and Den children when they’re out on their Forest School sessions.

We’ve welcomed new staff into the Hive. We’d like to all congratulate Lou who left before Christmas and gave birth to baby Charlie, who is extremely scrummy!

From the week commencing the 22nd of May The Hive will be holding a pyjama week – where we will be raising money for the Three Peaks Challenge. Don’t worry staff are involved too! Please donate via our Just Giving Page or we have a collection box within the Hive.

Suggested donation: 50p - £1

A number of the Free Rangers team will be taking part in the 24 hour Three Peaks Challenge, which they plan on completing on the 3rd of June 2017. Taking part in climbing three of the highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales.

The money that we are hoping to raise from this will go towards supporting families within our local community whose children need our help.

Two of the children within our care are in need of specialist medical equipment – and we are hoping that we raise enough to ensure this for them.

We're also supporting another family who have recently been told their parent is fighting an inoperable tumour, so therefore would like to offer the financial support that they need through this difficult time.

Here are a few pictures from looking back over the past year!

It was our chance to tell them all about Early Years Education during one of their careers assemblies.
