We’ve been open for over 10 years now so it’s time we took a breath to reflect on the journey…

Back in 2011, we only had a handful of Free Rangers, now our waiting lists grow and we find ourselves in the position of thinking of creative ways in which we can cater for the needs of yet more Free Range families.

Over this time we’ve been noticed by others for exemplary practice, resulting in an Outstanding Ofsted report, a Nursery World Runners Up Award and a Royal Forestry Society Award.

Perhaps the most visual changes have happened outside in the Paddock during the Covid pandemic, when we had to adapt with the times and created 3 separate groups within our Pre-school. We named the groups The Foxes, Hummingbirds and Dragonflies and although our groups can of course mix again now, we have kept it this way, as it has worked incredibly well having the children in smaller groups. Our babies also had a change of location, moving from the main house to a new cabin, which is located on the left hand side, just as you drive into Free Rangers.

Looking forward, we continue to dream big, and focus on how we can develop Free Rangers’ facilities and learning environment to provide our families with the level of care and learning they have come to expect from us.
