December in the Burrow

December 14, 2015 Tiffany Whittaker

It’s the first week in December and Christmas has officially hit the Burrow and the countdown can begin.

On Monday morning both the staff and the children in the Burrow were very excited to get out the Christmas decks and tree ready to deck the Burrow and get sparkly and festive ( and of course this is great as we all love a sparkle in the Burrow). We dressed the tree and gave it a home; for how long we will see. We hung tinsel from the ceiling, baubles from the washing line and even got our piñata to turn into a reindeer, and of course the Christmas songs were playing out loud for us to sing along and dance to. What a lovely day had by all decorating our room into a festive wonderland.

Our room was decorated and it was now time to get creative and let the children create  some lovely art and Christmas decorations to put up around the room, Nic and the children created a lovely Rudolph from an old piñata we had at Free Rangers. Soraya was mark making in the snow with the children (using flour) I got the sparkles, tinsels, glue and baubles and let the children use these to see what they could create (which may I add were some beautifully decorated baubles to hang around the room) Lauren took great pleasure in sparkling us all up with glittery hair and clothes. I thought what better way to display their lovely art work than to turn their old art into some lovely paper chains which we hung around the room.  It’s been a great start to the festive period and it’s only the 3rd ……. we look forward to lots more fun a festive time with our little Burrowers.

We have lots of lovely Christmas stories in the Burrow and have introduced the story of “Elf on the shelf” to the children this week which they have loved, they have enjoyed thinking up some names for an elf, some gifts they would like to ask the elf for and thinking of some places he may hide…watch this space ….I wonder what next week will bring, an elf of the shelf maybe.

Parents please feel free to come in and have a look at our lovely Christmas art and displays made by your creative burrowers.

Let the sparkle festive fun continue
