Hello all, I hope you have had a lovely week enjoying the cold mornings but warm afternoons (British weather!!).
Last week the Nest had laminated flowers and placed them on the window that looks into the Burrow, I and Nic said what a lovely idea it was and it made me think of our Forest School session next week!
We headed to the fire pit every day to have our snack, the children in the Burrow enjoy having different snack locations during the weeks and it helps to keep them on their toes. After snack the staff spoke to the children and explained what we were planning on doing, collecting flowers in our cups. As we searched the paddock the children were really positive and were super confident at exploring, using lots of language and using great gross motor skills walking and running!
Once we had finished collecting our flowers we walked back to the cabin to place our flowers into a laminating pouch ready for laminating! Some children chucked the flowers into the pouch, these tended to be the younger children. Whereas some older children would place the flowers down carefully making a beautiful portrait! After the Forest School activity we walked back to nursery where the children went to play and we laminated their pictures.
During the week whilst we gave the parents our masterpieces, they were all ecstatic about the pictures saying how lovely and beautiful they looked! Hearing things like is definitely one of the reasons I love my job, giving the children opportunity to make things to take home for their loved ones!
This Forest School activity linked in with our creativity, understanding the world and gross motor skills giving the children the full potential throughout the week.
