Exploring winter

Brrrr… what a cold week it has been! Last week on Friday we experienced ice - and for some children this may have been the first time they can remember seeing ice. This is when I thought exploring ice and the main factors of winter would be a great opportunity, and it would also link in nicely with our ‘Penguin Hunt’ story which has started in the Burrow.

This week it has been lovely to see our new and old children back after a brilliant Christmas week off; and I can assure you that the children slipped straight back into nursery life with ease. On forest school we have been able to use a bow saw and hand drill this week; for some of the children this is the first encounter they would have had with a saw and drill.

On Friday night Tammy and Sophie from the Hive and the Den taught us how to “Pom Pom” (not sure if that’s an actual verb) and gave us a taster at being a majorette for the night.
