This week in the Warren we have had great fun getting imaginative with the natural resources that have been on offer.
We have been making soup using various natural resources such as grasses, sticks, leaves, flowers and seeds, as well as different sized pots and pans.
We had the resources broken up in to each type of natural resource and placed the pots by them so that the children could use their fine motor skills. The children had to pick what resource they would like to put in their pot. They used the sticks that were supplied to mix the ingredients together and bring together a soup of their own making.
The children seemed to thoroughly enjoy this activity and it encouraged them to become imaginative.
We encouraged them to use their language skills, by getting them to talk about what they were putting in their pots as well as what they were making. Some were making cakes and others were making soups whereas others made biscuits.
You can get involved by maybe going for a walk and collecting various natural resources and bringing them home to explore what you’ve picked and then see what you can create.
