This week in the Warren we have been exploring sensory toys. We have been looking at sensory bottles and exploring the textures of shredded paper. We have been hiding animals within the paper which has encouraged the babies to talk about what each animal is and the sound that they make. The activity has encouraged the babies to use their fine motor skills to pick up the shredded paper and sprinkle it over the animals and over each other!
We have also been creating pictures with shredded paper to make a new display in the Warren. We have been adding glitter to the glue to make it more interesting and colourful, then sprinkling the paper over the top.
As well as encouraging the babies fine motor skills, we have also been focusing on their gross motor skills by playing with the toddle boxes. We have been balancing and walking up the ramp and then jumping off the other end. The babies have also been sitting in the rocking box and pretending they are on a boat and singing “row, row, row your boat” and also pretending they are on a seesaw.
Thank you for reading
