What a very cold and windy week we’ve had. The Burrow children (and adults) have all been wrapping up warm and ensuring lots of layers are worn when out and about.

This week we have had the opportunity to climb the tree house. Before we entered the tree house we spoke to the children about the do’s and don’ts when we are exploring. We asked the children questions such as “should we push our friends?” or “could we help our friends climb?”. This was to make sure the children understand what happens in the tree house and what may happen through our actions.

When the children approached the tree house they could decide whether to climb the ladder or the logs. The younger children find it a little easier to climb the ladder as the steps can get a little steep for them when in the middle. Once the children had climbed in they had instant smiles on their faces. “Look at me Lauren” “ I’m really high”, it was lovely to see how much they love and appreciate our areas on forest school.

The week bought lots of climbing and balancing as the confidence grew throughout the week. Of course the children didn’t just have to climb the tree house, they could hide underneath, or climb the other logs. One day we found ourselves playing hide and seek amongst the logs which the children thoroughly enjoyed. It also helped us warm up when in the cold weather.

Next week we will be based in the tree house again but we will have lots of ropes and pulleys to explore.
