This week we having been posting letters! Using our fine motor skills to push the letters through the slot of the post box. The children have been problem solving, working out how to post a letter and then retrieve them, by carefully lifting the lid of the post box.
After retrieving the letter the child then opened the envelope to find a picture of an animal, which lead us on to talk about animals and the noises they make.
This activity helps further the children’s development in many ways, physical development, by using our fine and gross motor skills, communication and language, through saying things such as “post letter to daddy”, as well as naming the animals and the sounds they make. This also links to an understanding of the world as the children were able to name many of the sounds themselves. They have also been problem solving using their thinking caps.
Next week we will be creating our own post cards to send home to our mummy’s and daddy’s.
