A bit of what we’ve been up to in the Burrow…

May 10, 2017 Nicola Gass

Over the last couple of weeks we have said goodbye to some Burrowers, who have either moved on to the Den or moved on to their own exciting adventure. However, we have welcomed our new children from the Hive as well as brand new children and our older Burrow children have given them a helping hand in settling in!

The new Burrow children have all been exploring their new environment whether this is the Burrow, under the arch or the big garden which we join with the Den children.

The Burrowers have fully embraced the garden, whether this is having a go on our recently built building/climbing area…this is where the Den staff put together a few odd bits, for example, some wooden pallets, some tyres, planks of wood and so on! We’ve been in the sandpit, building sandcastles, climbing in and out of the tractor tyres, on the swing and in the boat!

In the Burrow, we’ve been super busy, learning our circle time songs, as well as our circle time activities. We’ve explored our messy play and over the past two weeks we’ve been busy using spoons to scoop rice puffs, cornflakes, rice and oats to fill and empty our bowls and pots. We have been building up our fine motor skills using crayons to create some of our own amazing marks!

Under the archway, we have been exploring our soil pit with buckets and spades. We’ve used diggers and cars in the sand tray and bowls and water toys in the water tray! We have been busy being physical climbing in and out of tyres as well as being super strong and carrying them!

Here’s some photos to show what we have been up too!!

It’s been lovely to watch the Burrow children build new bonds and friendships with each other as well as building relationships with the practitioners in the room. Over the next few weeks I’m sure we will experience and watch our children learn to play alongside each other and begin to share experiences with each other.

Thanks for reading,

Nic
