We have been using the bouncy castle, some of the babies were a little unsure to begin with due to the noise but with lots of encouragement and role modelling from the adults and other babies they soon began to enjoy it.

Over the last couple of weeks in the Nest we have been encouraging the babies to practise feeding themselves using a spoon; trying to be independent. We have been building on skills through different activities and play; such as modelling using the tea set, feeding teddies, then adding shaving foam and rice so the babies could scoop and mix.

As you will all know at Free Rangers, we ‘LOVE’ to be outside, but we also try to bring the outdoors in, incorporating it into our play. This week in the Nest we have achieved this by exploring our new holistic bricks (Natural logs cut into different shapes and sizes).

This week in the Nest we have begun to look at maths, trying to achieve an awareness of ‘Space and simple changes in Numbers’. The babies have enjoyed taking part in a range of activities such as number rhymes (singing songs based on numbers up to 3), puzzles – shape sorting, posting a variety of different sized balls down large tubes and using sensory materials (oats, sand and rice) to experience pouring and filling different sized containers.
