Warren Children….Born to Explore.

This week in the Warren we have had great fun getting imaginative with the natural resources that have been on offer. We have been making soup using various natural resources such as grasses, sticks, leaves, flowers and seeds, as well as different sized pots and pans.

Mountains of paper fun!!!!

This week in the Warren we provided the babies with lots and lots of shredded paper, we hid a range of animals in among the paper. The babies explored the shredded paper, using both of their hands to search through it to find the different animals, the babies picked up the animals and were able to make the noises.

Magical Porridge

This week in the Warren we have been getting creative in the paddock, using natural materials, water and pots and pans to make porridge. We have been developing our knowledge of the surrounding looking at the different grasses, plants and trees.

Wash our dirty hands!

In the Warren we have a new hand washing system and we have been encouraging the children to wash their hands independently. By doing this it is preparing the children for the Burrow and taking a role in their own care and hygiene.

Making new friends

This week in the Warren we have all been getting to know one another as well as getting to know our new environment.  We welcome all the new children who have started with us and those who have moved down from the Nest to join us. We all know time moves so fast and that children grow up and develop so quickly.

Bean Bag Throwing

This week the children have been engaging in a number focused activity where we have had three hoops, numbered one, two and three. We have been encouraging the children to throw the bean bags into a number and identify the number when they can.

Snack Time in The Warren

In the Warren snack time is an important part of our day, where we fill our tummies with a healthy treat. Snack time is also a time when we can learn lots of skills, hand  and eye-coordination when feeding our self as well as being able to hold our cups steady when drinking from it.

Our Wonderful Mummy’s

This week in the Warren we have been getting very creative for our mummy’s to thank them for all their hard work. We have been helping Cat mix up salt dough, and then we have been creating individual hand print as a keepsake for our mummy’s to remember us in our early years.

Car Painting

This week in the Warren we have been getting creative, using the cars to create marks on paper with paint. We have been developing our creative, and physical skills.The babies have been using their gross motor skill by picking up a car and placing it onto the paper, they then pushed the car forwards and back to make marks on the paper.

Play dough fun!!!

This week we have exploring our lemon smelling play dough, using different shaped cutters and rolling pins. The babies have been using their hands to manipulate the play dough, squashing squeezing and poking, developing our fine motor skills.

Tent and tunnel

In the Warren this week we have really enjoyed the tent and tunnel which connect together. This allows the children to use there physical development in trying different ways to fit through the tunnel, e.g crawling, wriggling through to get out the other end.

Growing up!!!!

We are moving to The Burrow for the next part of our Free Rangers adventure. We have had lots of fun in The Warren with Lou, Laura and Cat, but as we have developed and progressed we are now ready for something more, to be able to have more freedom, between indoor and outdoor play.

Forest School Fun

For our Forest School sessions over the last three weeks, we have had a strong exploratory impulse. We have explored pumpkins, using our senses, smelling the fleshy inners, and touching the different parts of the pumpkins, the slimey inners, as well as the small seeds and the smooth outer skin.

I spoke to Norton Hill students this week.
It was our chance to tell them all about Early Years Education during one of their careers assemblies.

It’s not easy trying to sell a career that is underpaid and undervalued within our society. .

This amazing totally handmade tree was crafted at the weekend by Charlotte from the Den, along with the gorgeous
A get together before Christmas. .
We went to @fosse_farm for a Christmas wreath building session and Sue put on such a lovely evening with nibbles and drinks and Robbie Williams playing.

It can be hectic at this time of year but Sue kept everyone
On Friday night Tammy and Sophie from the Hive and the Den taught us how to “Pom Pom” (not sure if that’s an actual verb) and gave us a taster at being a majorette for the night.

I think we all incurred a few bumps and bruises but
Introducing Bramble, causally mooching around her native habitat. 
She lives on site at Free Rangers and the children have all got to know her well.
